Dear Scouts,
This year for Christmas, FECC will be taking part in Samaritan's Purse's Operation Christmas Child. For those who do not know, Samaritan's Purse is a charitable organization, and its Operation Christmas Child aims to give underprivileged a happy holiday season by packing shoeboxes filled with gifts and supplies for them.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Samaritan's Purse has discouraged packing these shoeboxes in person. Instead, the church is encouraging everyone to pack their shoeboxes at home, and drop off those boxes on Friday from 2–6 PM and Sunday from 1–3 PM. The instructions on how to pack these boxes is in this link: https://www.samaritanspurse.org/operation-christmas-child/pack-a-shoe-box/. Each participant is also required to give a $9 dollar donation to cover shipping costs.
Any scout who participates in this service activity and does the following will receive one service hour:
Prepare the gift shoebox, and take a selfie in Class A uniform with the shoebox.
Drop off the shoebox in FECC on Friday in Class A uniform and take a selfie with whoever receives the shoebox.
Send both pictures to Troop888 Historian David.
We hope everyone participates in this wonderful opportunity. Happy holidays!
